Christopher W. Hardy

1969 - 2013 NORTH BENNINGTON Christopher W. Hardy, 43, a resident of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., formerly of North Bennington, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in White Creek, N.Y.

Born in Bennington on Oct. 29, 1969, he was the son of William and Faye (LeBarron) Hardy. Chris received his early education in North Bennington and was a 1987 graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School. Chris went on to study mechanical engineering at Clarkson University, where he received his degree in 1991.

Chris was first employed at Energizer Battery Company in both Bennington and Marysville, Mo. He later worked for several years at Osborne Construction Company in Kirkland, Wash., and Alaska. At the time of his death, Chris was employed as a project manager by MLB Construction in Malta, N.Y.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed both deer and turkey hunting, playing in his softball league and time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Faye Hardy of North Bennington; two sisters, Peggy Briggs of Milford, Mass., and Stephanie Briggs and her fiance, Donald Tedesco, of Milton, Vt.; an uncle, Daniel L. LeBarron Jr. (Sheila Burks), of Shaftsbury, Penny Farrara, godmother, of North Bennington; two step-sons, Corey and Kyle Knudson of the State of Washington and other aunts, great-aunts and cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. where the Burial Office with Holy Eucharist will be offered by the Rev. Gary Strubel and Deacon Penny Hawkins.

Friends may call at the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge, N.Y.

Should friends desire, contributions in Christopher W. Hardy's memory may be made to either St. Peter's Episcopal Church or the Stickney Fund at West Mountain Animal Hospital through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
