Claire A. Juif

1935-2009 ADAMS Claire Ann Lawson Juif, 74, of 4 Harding Avenue, Adams, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 24, 2009, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

She was born in Adams on Sept. 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Gilbert R. and Eva R. Alderman Lawson.

She attended Adams schools, and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1953.

Mrs. Juif last worked at the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds in Adams for 22 years, until retiring in September of 1997. She had also been an aide for the remedial reading program at C.T. Plunkett Elementary School in Adams while her own children were young.

She enjoyed her work, reading, gardening, swimming, her retirement, and her many trips to Maine. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, Russell E. Juif, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1959 in the First Congregational Church of Adams; her children, Todd Juif, Tara Juif Garcia and Trent Juif; her granddaughters, Joslyn Juif, and Tessa Garcia, and her father, John Garcia; her sister-in-law, Arvine Fiske; two brothers, George and Gordon Lawson; two sisters, Elinor Caffrey and Betty Szufnarowski; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Harold, Francis and Gilbert Lawson.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
