Claire L. Turner 1933-2011 BENNINGTON Claire L. Turner, 77, a resident of Morgan Street, Bennington, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at home after a long battle with cancer. Born in Bennington December 9, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Randolph and Ruth (Beagle) Lorom. Claire received her education in North Bennington and was a 1951 graduate of North Bennington High School. Claire married Burton H. Turner on June 1, 1952 in North Bennington. He died November 1, 1988. Her employment included branch manager of First Vermont Bank for many years and later at Charter One Bank, Bennington Potters and Hillside House. She also owned and operated Harrington & Turner Gallery in Bennington. Claire's interests included art, cooking and gardening. She is survived by five children, Vanessa Haverkoch of North Bennington, Laura Colliano and her husband Samuel of Bennington, Tracy Turner and her companion Jon Davis of Bennington, Bradford Turner and wife MaryJo Nelson of Bennington and Allison Turner of Albany, N.Y., six grandchildren, Deirdre (Lincourt) Prue, Erin (Lincourt) Dawson, Trevor Colliano, Logan Colliano, Austin (Turner) Bayliss and Nathan Hoag. She also leaves her close companion, Jack Harrington of Bennington, a sister, Jean Woodard of Sebring, Florida and Shaftsbury, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Claire was predeceased by two brothers, Francis "Bud" Tinney and Donald F. Lorom and a son-in-law, Henry (Hank) Haverkoch. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire memorial contributions in memory of Claire L. Turner may be made to either the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center or the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
