Clara B. "Dee" Cummings 1945 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Mrs. Clara B. "Dee" Cummings, 63, a resident of Rosemont St., died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a long illness. She was born in Coldwater, Mich., Sept. 10, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Max William Wright and Gertrude Lempke Wright. Dee graduated from Manistee Michigan High School and later attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. Dee married Attorney Robert E. Cummings in Burlington, Vt., on April 16, 1982. In earlier years Dee was employed by United States Senator Phillip Hart of Michigan. After moving to Vermont, Dee began working in the Office of the Vermont State Senate and the Vermont Lottery Commission. While Living in Bennington, Dee was employed as the Director of Development at Bennington College, served on the Bennington Planning Commission, and was most recently employed at the Mount Anthony Country Club. Dee enjoyed playing golf and gardening. She was a very devoted wife and mother to her twin daughters, Leslie and Lisa and step-children Ann, Paul and Katie and was very fond of her dog "Reggie". She leaves her husband, Robert Cummings of Bennington, she also leaves her daughters, Leslie Dupuis, and her husband, Kurt, of Alexandria, Va., and Lisa Gordman, and her husband, Jonathan, of Springfield, Va., and three step-children, Ann Cummings, Paul Cummings and Katherine Cummings all of Bennington. She also had four grandchildren, Thomas, Nicholas and Jack Dupuis all of Alexandria, Va., and Amelia Cummings of Bennington as well as a brother James Wright, and his wife, Kay of Traverse City, Mich. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Preskinis Pastor of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales officiating. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday September 11, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Dee may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the office of the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201
