Obituary Condolences

WEST RUPERT -- Clara Bentley, 91, of West Rupert, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born and educated in West Rupert, the daughter of the late Jay Eli and Calista Morehouse Wilson. Clara was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved gardening and also baking for her family and friends. Her husband of 54 years, Norman Bentley, died in 1991.

Clara is survived by her three children, Frank Wilson of Bennington, Virginia Andersen of Woodstock, Ga., and Sherry Langlois of Clifton Park, N.Y.; her brothers and sisters, Mary Lourie, Clifford “Kip” Wilson, Bertha Roberts, Jay Eli “June” Wilson Jr. and Lillian Carlton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, James Wilson, in 1995.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at the Rupert Congregational Church in Rupert with the Rev. Mary Beth Hutchinson officiating. Interment will be in the Rupert Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Clara may be made to the Rupert Historical Society, c/o Ann Lourie, West Rupert, VT 05776 or the Rupert Congregational Church, Rupert, VT 05768.
