HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Clare H. Baker, 91, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at her residence in Hoosick Falls. She was the wife of the late Edward W. Baker.

Clare was born March 9, 1916, in Stillwater, the daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Nolan) Hickey. She was educated at the Hoosick Falls high school and also attended the Troy Business School.

Clare worked as a secretary for the Woodflong Co. in Hoosick Falls. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception church in Hoosick Falls, a member of the American Legion Post 40 ladies auxiliary, a former Gray Lady of the Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, as well as a former member of the Hoosick Falls Elks Lodge 178 ladies auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Nolan Kessler and her husband, David, of Argyle. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Amy (Tom) Ketcham of Cambridge, Kelly (John) Matson of Florida, and Corey (Robin) Kessler of Hoosick Falls; as well as three great-grandchildren, Lexi Matson, Reagan and Madison Kessler; and many nieces and nephews. Clare was predeceased by a brother, John Hickey, and two sisters, Kathryn Chapman and Alyce Percy.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 8:45 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Academy through the funeral home.
