BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Clarence S. Curtis were held on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2003, at the Federated Church of East Arlington with the Rev. Thomas Truscott, pastor, officiating. Organist for the services was Douglas Bischoff. The congregation joined in singing the hymns “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Tributes and remembrances were offered by his son, Robert, and family friend, George Griffis.

Interment followed in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington, with military honors being offered by members of the Harned Fowler VFW Post of Manchester. Taps were played by Maurice Rancourt.

Pallbearers for the services were his son, Scott Curtis; grandson, Andy Curtis; along with George Griffis, Andy McLenithan, and Josh Volvic.

Attending the visitation on Tuesday evening at the Hanson-Walbridge Arlington Chapel were members of the American Legion Post #69 of Arlington, who conducted a memorial service. The members of the Arlington Fire Department also attended the visitation in respect for the service Mr. Curtis had given to the community as a fire commissioner while on the select board. Administration, staff and former employees of Mack Molding were also in attendance at the services. Mr. Curtis had been the director of shipping and receiving for Mack for many years.

Clarence S. Curtis, 86, a resident of Glens Falls, N.Y. and a former long-time resident of Arlington, died on Saturday evening, Oct. 18 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
