Claudia Christman 1948 - 2009 SUNDERLAND Claudia J. Christman, 60, of Shady Pines and a lifelong resident of Sunderland died Monday evening, Jan. 19, 2009, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Claudia was born in Sunderland on Feb. 11, 1948 and attended the one-room school house there. Claudia worked as a nursing assistant for the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, worked at Mack Molding in Arlington for several years and did housekeeping for many homes in the Arlington, Manchester and Dorset areas. In her earlier years, she volunteered for the Arlington Rescue Squad, Hospice, and Meals on Wheels. She liked birds, watching old movies on television, loved her dog, Cody, and was a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington. Claudia leaves her former husband, Roy Christman of Arlington; her daughter, Sandy Christman of Bennington; her brothers, Ed Cross of Arlington, Bim Cross of Manchester, Vt., and Tony Cross of Manchester, N.H.; her sisters Bernice Gaudette of Arlington and Mary McKeighan of Shaftsbury; her grandchildren, Steven and Dawn Christman of Shaftsbury; her best friend, Agnes Brewer of Northfield, Conn., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Gary Christman, who died in 1996; by her sister, Judy Sherman, who died Dec. 7, 2008 and by her brother Patrick Cross. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Claudia J. Christman will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at her home at 11 Shady Pines in Sunderland. The Rev. Kathleen Clark of the Federated Church of East Arlington will conduct the service. There will be no visiting hours.
