Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Clayton Jepson Jr. were held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bennington, officiating.

Hymns offered during the funeral service included “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Scriptural readings were offered by Mr. Jepson’s nieces, Kathleen Williams and Jennifer Smith, who also read a poem. Words of remembrance were offered by Mary Jepson, a sister-in-law.

Bearers were James and Jay Pleasant, Sam and Marshall Salvi, James McDermott, John Maroney and Noah Williams.

Burial took place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Drosky offering the committal prayers. The American flag that draped the casket of the Vietnam War veteran was folded and presented to his widow, Diana Jepson, by Joseph Krawczyk and Kenneth Lorette of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt. Following the committal prayers, the hymn “Amazing Grace” was offered on bagpipes by William Tunicliffe.

Mr. Jepson a native of Bennington and a longtime resident of Clifton Park, N.Y., died unexpectedly Feb. 4, 2005, at his home.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
