BURLINGTON -- Clifford E. “Butch” Buffum Jr. 44, formerly of the Bennington area and a resident of Lake Street in Burlington, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington following a courageous battle with cancer, he was surrounded by his loving family.

Cliff was born in Bennington, on Aug. 22, 1962, the son of Clifford E. and Dorothy (Sanders) Buffum Sr. He received his education in Shaftsbury schools and attended Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington. Cliff worked as a dry wall installer and in plumbing and heating for many years, and formerly for Schmelzer Corporation in Bennington and WM E. Dailey, Inc. in Shaftsbury. Cliff enjoyed building car models and models of tall ships. He loved to hunt and was an avid New York Yankee baseball fan. He was a spiritual man and put his faith in God.

Cliff is survived by his mother, Dorothy Buffum, of West Rutland; his wife, Kelly, of Burlington; his daughter, Kayleigh of Monkton; two sisters, Janet Cook and companion, Michael Halverson, of Perth Amboy, N.J., and Jodie Buffum and companion, Dan Gagnon, of Center Barnstead, N.H.; his nieces and nephews, Michelle and Brian Girard of Wilton, N.H., and Kyle and Monica Buffum of Center Barnstead, N.H., his great-niece and great-nephew Madison and Brandon of Wilton, N.H., and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father Clifford E. Buffum Sr., who died Jan. 14, 2007.

Funeral services for Cliff will be held Sunday afternoon, March 4, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Route 7A Arlington. Noreen Gardner of the Green Mountain Christian Center will conduct the service. Interment will be held in the spring in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 11 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
