Obituary Condolences

WEST RUTLAND -- Funeral services for Clifford E. Buffum Sr. were held Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Arlington. Mr. Buffum’s niece, Noreen Gardner of the Green Mountain Christian Center, officiated.

Musical selections chosen by the family were “Amazing Grace,” “Wind Beneath My Wings,” “In The Garden” and a very special song, “Daddy’s Hands.”

Words of remembrance were offered by Noreen Gardner and special memories of Mr. Buffum were shared by many of those in attendance including Mr. Buffum’s son, Clifford “Butch” Buffum Jr., his granddaughter Kayleigh Buffum, great grandson Brandon Giard, Dan Gagnon and Mr. Buffum’s sister Beulah Cottrell who also led those present in the reciting of “The Lord’s Prayer.”

A graveside service with military honors followed the funeral service at Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington. Serving as pallbearers were Clifford “Butch” Buffum, Michael Halverson, Dan Gagnon, Brian Giard, Kyle Buffum and Tom Dockum. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Buffum, Lawrence Farr, Fred Dumas and Leroy Cyphers. Steve Leach and Jerry Coleman from the Manchester VFW offered a rifle salute.

Members of the United States Marine Corps, C4 Martinez, Sgt. Picherdo, and LC Lever conducted the flag folding and performed Taps. The flag was then presented to Mr. Buffum’s wife, Dorothy Buffum, by Sgt Picherdo. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, Route 7A, Arlington.
