Clifford T. Salsburg

1947-2013 BENNINGTON Clifford T. Salsburg, age 65, a resident of Rockledge, Fla., and formerly, a longtime resident of Bennington, died on Friday, February 15, in Florida following a brief illness.

Mr. Salsburg was born in Troy, N.Y., on November 29, 1947, and was the son of the late Clifford and Julia (Simpson) Salsburg. He is a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School in Albany, and attended St. Michael's College in Vermont. Mr. Salsburg served in the Navy during the Viet Nam era, aboard the USS Alywin, a destroyer escort.

He was employed at Johnson Fuels in Bennington for twenty-six years, before moving to Florida in 1999. He was currently employed as a manager with Landscape Depot in Rockledge, Fla.

While living in Bennington, he was very active in the Bennington Rotary Club, and was a Past President. He also served on the Zoning Board. In earlier years he was an avid baseball player and played in the Twilight League in Albany, and had calls from the Cincinnati Reds and from the Chicago White Sox. He also played softball in town for many years, as well as bowling. He was an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Salsburg of Rockledge, Fla., two children; Jennifer Dorr and her husband Jeff of Pembroke, N.H., and Michael Salsburg and his fiancee, Leah Serraro of Bennington, and his step-daughter, Jessica Nealon of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.

He leaves four grandchildren: Megan, Adrienne and Ryan Dorr and Thomas Salsburg.

Mr. Salsburg has one sister, Diane Smith of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, Bennington on Monday, February 25 from 1 until 3 p.m.

Committal services will take place privately in the spring in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
