Obituary Condolences

NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. -- Conrad Wood Moon, 62, of North Stonington, died Friday, Oct.13, 2006, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Tampa, Fla., on Sept. 6, 1944, the son of Conrad Lincoln and Theda LaCroix Moon. After graduation he went on to serve in the Navy. His naval career spanned 30 years, achieving the rank of E8, master chief, at the time of his retirement.

He married Mary L. Flynn in Dorchester, Mass., on June 27, 1970. Together, they raised three daughters, settling in Connecticut from Virginia Beach, Va., after he left the Navy.

Conrad went on to work as an electronics technician, most recently for Purvis Systems in Newport, R.I., for the past nine years. His interests varied from golf to bowling. He was an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan. What brought him the most pleasure was being a family man, taking care of home and yard and sharing in the lives of his daughters and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, he is survived by their daughters and their families: Kris M. and Erich Fogg and their daughter, Gabrielle, of Kennebunk, Maine; Jennifer M. Burroughs and children, Kalie and Brandon, of North Stonington, and their father Robert; and Melissa M. and Mark Mitchell and son, Jacob, also of North Stonington. He also leaves four sisters, Sharon Jurgela of Laguna Nigel, Calif., Tamara Capabianco of Wellesley, Mass., Dale Scibelli of San Clemente, Calif., and Shaun Moon of Phoenix, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at St. Thomas More Church, North Stonington, at 11 a.m. Military honors will follow the Mass.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic, on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be considered for the Community Cancer Center, Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, 365 Montauk Ave., New London, CT 06320. Visit www.mysticfuneralhome.com for directions, obituary information and an online register to leave a note of condolence.
