Obituary Condolences

DORSET -- Connie Hallett of Dorset, and formerly of Morristown/Bernardsville, N.J., died in Bennington on Nov. 21, 2006, from complications following a stroke. The daughter of Mildred and Laurence Carpenter, she was the wife of E. Bruce Hallett. She was born in New York City and grew up in Mountain Lakes and South Orange, N.J.

She was a woman of all seasons. She graduated from the Ogontz School where she was awarded the Gold Star for excellence. This award of achievement was a symbol of the life she led, always giving, not taking. During WWII, she worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. Thereafter, she was the mother of six outstanding children, all contributors in life’s experience. In later life she was a real estate broker in New Jersey. She was an excellent tennis player, loved golf, skiing, hiking, books and travel. Among those she touched, all found her exhilarating. Her verve and love of life was contagious. Her friendships were legion.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce, and children: Christine Miller, Patricia Muchmore, Gay Collins, Bruce, Thomas, and Laurence Hallett; a brother, Laurence Carpenter, of Morristown, N.J.; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed but in no way forgotten.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Living and Rehabilitation c/o Brewster Funeral Service PO Box 885 Manchester, VT 05255.
