Cynthia Thompson Riddle
1941-2013 Cynthia Thompson Riddle, beloved wife of John P. Riddle, Jr., died Thursday November 14, 2013 at her home in Rutland at the age of 72. Born in North Adams, on October 11, 1941, Cindy was the daughter of Charles W. Thompson, Jr. and Phyllis Virginia Beer. Cindy was a lifelong organist and choir director, having served churches in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, and Michigan during her 56 years of music ministry. Her most recent position was at Second Congregational Church in Bennington, where she was organist and handbell director and accompanied the choir. Her education, over many years, was received at Wesleyan University, Hartt College, and Westminster Choir College, as well as countless workshops and symposia with many of the greats of church music. She was a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists. Cindy was a member of St. Peter's Church in Rutland, where she served as lector and sang in her husband's choir. Her passion was the family genealogy, which she was recording in her book "Reflections", which also recalled growing up in the 40s and 50s. Besides her husband John, she leaves her four beautiful daughters: Deborah Cruz (Michael), Marjorie Hursman, Jennifer Fritche, and Julianne Thompson, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Church in Rutland on Monday November 18 at 11:00 am.
