Dan S. Shultz

1948-2014 BENNINGTON Dan S. Shultz of Houston, Texas, peacefully left this world on May 10, 2014 after a long and courageous battle, surrounded by his loving family and pastor. Born on July 25, 1948 in Bennington, Vt. to Marjorie and Seymour Shultz, Dan wqas a member of the last graduating class from Bennington High School in 1966 and went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont. Immediately after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, being honorably discharged in 1973. He then began his career as a Civil Engineer and partnered with several multi national corporations, allowing him and his family to live all over the United States, Asia and Europe. After a dedicated career, he retired in 2010. Dan leaves his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Dougan Shultz; his daughter, Ryan T. Shultz of Dallas, Texas; his son, Joshua A. Shultz and wife Robin, his granddaughter, Natalie B. Shultz of Alexandria, Va. and his sister, Jeanie Shultz Hoyt and her husband, David, of Shaftsbury, Vt. as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen N. Shultz, and his mother and father. Dan was an excellent golfer and tennis player but dedicated his life to his family and his community. He leaves an amazing and enduring legacy. It is the Shultz family wish that for all that knew Dan, remember him as they do; a man who filled a room with laughter, who shared his wisdom easily with all who asked for it, who loved his family deeply and whose selflessness and generosity inspired all that knew him.
