Daniel L. LeBarron Sr.

1915 - 2013 SHAFTSBURY Daniel L. LeBarron Sr., 97, a resident of Myers Road, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Albany Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born in White Creek, N.Y., on Oct. 22, 1915. He was the son of Melvin LeBarron Sr. and Eliza (Colby) LeBarron. Mr. LeBarron received his education in White Creek.

His wife, the former Elizabeth Gaefka, whom he married on Oct. 20, 1940, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington, died Sept. 9, 2006

He worked at farming until in his forties and then went to work at Tansitor Electronics from which he retired in 1981.

He and his wife then continued to do much gardening at his home in Shaftsbury. They both loved to have many people come for dinner. His ability to play checkers and dominos was always surprising

He was an avid deer and turkey hunter. In his latest years, he enjoyed living with his son, Daniel, and taking care of his horses, dogs and cats as well as his own cats.

Survivors include a daughter, Faye Hardy (William) of North Bennington; a son, Daniel L. LeBarron Jr. (Sheila Burks) of Shaftsbury; five grandchildren, Christopher, Peggy, Stephanie, Heather and Greg; a godchild , Penelope Farrara; four sisters, Florence Baker, Sue DeMarsico, Olive Chesbro and Janet Burch, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Melvin Jr., Ralph and Loren, and by two sisters, Bessie and Edith.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. The burial will take place in the Family lot in Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, N.Y. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Daniel L. LeBarron Sr. may be made to either the or the Second Chance Animal Shelter in Shaftsbury through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
