Obituary Condolences

Daniel P. Brown 1951 - 2008 BENNINGTON, VT Daniel "Danny" Perley Brown, 56, a former Lebanon resident, died unexpectedly on Saturday March 22, 2008 at his home. Daniel was born on Oct. 1, 1951 to Warren E. and Mary E. Wheeler Brown in Barre, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1971. He enlisted in the Marines soon after. Daniel had great enthusiasm for many aspects of life, and was a known prankster, fond of jokes and clowning around. He enjoyed cards, word-search puzzles, and other games. He also had a deep appreciation for automobiles and driving, spending a great deal of time on the road. Members of his extended family were delighted for many years by his fireworks display at several July 4th celebrations. He also enjoyed watching wrestling on television and live matches. He collected hats, and was especially enthusiastic about collecting lidded caps with logos. His fondness for holiday displays extended to Christmas, when he would dazzle family, friends and neighbors with elaborate arrangements of lights, music, ornaments, and animated figures. Daniel was a member of the Grange for several years before the Lebanon branch dissolved. He made a drastic change in his life after joining Alcoholics Anonymous and worked hard to maintain his sobriety. Never settling in one place for very long, Danny relocated many times in his life, eventually settling in Bennington. His death ended a very long struggle with complications resulting from diabetes. After an honorable discharge from service, he married Darlene Smith. Although their marriage eventually ended, they continued to remain friends and provide mutual support for the family they created. Daniel leaves his daughter, Jolene Brown of Bennington; his son Daniel Brown Jr. of Bennington; a granddaughter, Angelique Brown of Bennington; five sisters, Ruth Gray of Weirsdale, Fla., Rose Welch of Haverhill, N.H., Joyce Greene of Weirsdale, Fla., Irene Heath of Lebanon, N.H., and nieces and nephews. FUNERALNOTICE: Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. with a funeral to begin at 3 on Thursday, March 27, 2008. Phil Anderson will officiate. Daniel's ashes will be held by his family for interment at a later date. Arrangements are with Ricker Funeral Homes & Crematory of Lebanon, N.H.
