Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Daniel P. Casey were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Saturday, May 22, 2004 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor, the Rev. Julian LaFlamme, concelebrated.

Organist was Mr. Donald McMahon and soloist was Mrs. Mildred Pierce. Hymns offered during the funeral service were “Amazing Grace,” “Ave Maria,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Here I Am Lord” and “Prayer of St. Francis.” The funeral pall that draped Mr. Casey’s casket during the funeral mass was placed by Elaine Sachau, his brother-in-law Gideon LaCroix, and a sister-in-law Dolores Chapman, and a wooden cross was laid on the casket by Claire Casey, his wife. The scriptural readings were offered by Gideon LaCroix and Dolores Chapman. The offertory gifts were bought to the altar by Elaine, Jasmine and Doreen Sachau. Gideon LaCroix offered the eulogy. Acolytes at the mass were Gerald Amadon, Valmore Clifford, John Reed and Leonard Anzivino. Bearers were two nephews, Daniel Sachau, and Christopher LaCroix, John and Richard Maloney.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Friday afternoon Father Coppola offered the wake service at the funeral home.

Burial took place at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie, N.Y., May 24, 2004 with the Rev. John Brasley, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany, N.Y. Mr. Casey, a resident of Hamden, Conn., died May 20, 2004 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
