JOHNSONVILLE, N.Y. -- Darlene Rice Miles, 57, of Johnsonville Road, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Hoosick Falls Health Center.

Born in Bennington, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Milford Rice and Louise King Rice and the wife of George R. Miles of Johnsonville.

A former Stillwater resident, she lived in Johnsonville for the past eight years.

Darlene was a sewing machine operator for Standard Manufacturing in Troy for 10 years, retiring in 1995 due to disability. She was a member of the Rensselaer Open Bible Baptist Church. Darlene was a lover of all animals especially her birds and her dogs.

Survivors, in addition to her husband George, include a son, Ricky Rice (Melissa) of Hoosick Falls; a daughter, Tammy Gundrum (Wayne) of Petersburgh; two stepsons, Michael Miles (Michele) of Lansingburgh and Chuck Miles of Troy; two sisters, Faylene Kauppi (Stephen) of Pownal, Vt., and Starlene Gabrus (Donald) of Bennington, Vt.; a brother, Mickey Rice of St. Augustine, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Darlene was predeceased by her son, George S. Blowers Jr., and her brother Rockie Rice.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 109th St. and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, with the Rev. Glen Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
