Obituary Condolences

SOUTH DORSET -- Darrell E. “Curly” Moffit, 57, a a longtime resident of Dorset, passed away at his home in South Dorset early Saturday morning, May 6, 2006. He was born in Bennington on Aug. 11, 1948, the son of Darrell “Pete” Moffit and the late Charlotte (Howard) Moffit. He married Christine Woodcock on Oct. 15, 1966, in Dorset.

Curly was a woodworker and was employed with Manchester Woodcraft for close to 20 years. Prior to Manchester Woodcraft, he was employed at Manchester Wood. Curly loved hunting and fishing and was an outdoors enthusiast.

He loved nature and animals and enjoyed feeding raccoons, foxes and other wildlife - including a bear - from his home. He was a collector of treasures and enjoyed going to tag sales. He also loved games and was especially fond of intricate, mind-teasing puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Christine of South Dorset; his daughters, Brenda Kerson of Rupert, Cynthia McKune of Salem, N.Y., and Susan Moffit of Mishawaka, Ind.; his father, Darrell “Pete” Moffit of Wells; his brothers, Walter, Bruce and Robert Moffit, all of Bennington, Philip Moffit of Stephentown, N.Y., Kevin Moffit of Wells, and William Moffit of Granville, N..Y; his sister, Mary Haskins of Rutland; and his grandchildren, Courtney and Chelsea Secoy of Manchester, and Emma and Charlotte Kerson of Rupert.

A private family graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset.

Family and friends may call at Brewster Funeral Service, 34 Park Place, Manchester, on Thursday, May 11, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
