WEST RUTLAND -- David A. Hicks, 39, died Feb. 17, 2005, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Bennington, Jan. 27, 1966, the son of Arthur E. and Kathleen (Deegan) Hicks.

He was a 1984 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington and a 1988 graduate of Castleton State College.

He married Ann Zingali on May 22, 1993, in St. Peter’s Church in Rutland.

David was a certified public accountant in the accounting firm of Stevens Wilcox Baker Potvin Cassidy & Jakubowski.

He was a member of St. Bridget’s Church.

David was a member of the Mount Anthony Union High School basketball team, where he held the school record of shot blocking and rebounding. He was a member of the Vt. Alhambra Basketball Team.

He was a fan of the N.Y. Yankees, New York Giants and Nascar.

His biggest enjoyment was his family and attending his nieces and nephews sporting events.

Surviving are his wife, Ann (Zingali) Hicks of West Rutland; his father of Bennington; a brother, Kevin M. Hicks of Berkeley, Calif.; three sisters, Karen M. Reynolds of West Rutland, Linda S. White and Laura K. Harrington, both of Bennington; four nieces, Jenna K. Harrington, Meghan K. Reynolds, Amanda M. Reynolds and Suzanna F. Hicks; and four nephews, Justin J. Harrington, Nathan E. White, Tyler M. White and Brian P. Reynolds.

He was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen (Deegan) Hicks in 1984.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Bridget’s Church. Officiating will be the Rev. John Deegan, OSA of Philadelphia, Pa., and the Rev. Robert Whalen, pastor. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Bridget’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
