Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- A celebration of the life of David Canfield Hard was held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2005, at Hanson-Walbridge Arlington Chapel. The Rev. John Mitchell of Zion Episcopal Church conducted the service. The lessons were read by Donald Crofut. Family and friends of Mr. Hard offered words of remembrance and reflections. The congregation listened to the song “You Were Always On My Mind” by Willie Nelson during a time of meditation. Burial with full military honors followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington, where the Rev. Mitchell offered burial rites and committal prayers. Serving as urn bearers were the Rev. Hard’s grandsons Tim Hard and Keith Barrows and honorary urn bearers were Roy and Bob Crofut. The color guard from the American Legion Post 69 Arlington was under the command of Tom Hayes who presented the American flag to Mr. Hard’s wife Dawn. Firing squad members included John Stark, Larry Clayton and Sidney Moss.

David Canfield Hard, of Bridport and formerly of Arlington, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Arrangements were under the care of Hanson-Walbridge Arlington Chapel, Route 7A, Arlington.
