HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- David Fleming, 80, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the Hoosick Falls Health Center where he had resided for the past year. He was the beloved husband of Eva (Motsiff) Fleming who resides on Saratoga Street in Hoosick Falls.

Dave was born on March 3, 1925 in Troy, son of the late William J. and Eunice (Hoffay) Fleming. He attended St. Patrick’s School in Troy and graduated from Catholic Central in 1943. After graduating Dave entered the United States Navy serving from 1943-1945. Dave worked for New York Telephone for 42 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 11071, Elks Lodge No. 178, St. Stanislaw Society and the Derby Club all in Hoosick Falls. Dave also enjoyed gardening, running, reading and being with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors other than his wife Eva include a daughter Mary Beth Dickinson and her husband Richard; a son, David Fleming and his wife Sharon, all of Hoosick Falls; a sister, Esther Quinlan of Troy; six grandchildren, Carly, David and Rachel Dickinson, Matthew, Jason and Molly Fleming. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dave is predeceased by six sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 30 at 9:15 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary Academy or the Hoosick Falls Health Center through the funeral home.
