David G Crofut

1929 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
David George Crofut of Lake George, New Brunswick, Canada passed away on March 29, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
He was born on January 19, 1929 in Peekskill, N.Y. to Anita (McPartland) and David G. Crofut of Croton-on-Hudson. His childhood summers and much of his adult life he spent at the family seat of Arlington, Vt. of which the Crofuts were among the founding families before the American Revolution.
David is survived by wife, Joan (Fletcher); daughter, Jane Kleinman and Michael of Highland, Calif.; son, Alan Crofut, of Marlborough, N.H.; brother, Charles and Amy of E. Aurora, N.Y.; grandchildren, Eric, Jonathan, Lauren, Garrison and Lydia and two great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are Joan's children, Dan Duncan and Marsha of Simcoe Island, ON, Deborah Duncan and Donald Puff of Camillus, N.Y. and Heather and Jim Donnelly of Lake George, New Brunswick.
He had been beloved "Papa" to Joan's granddaughters, Maretta and Jocelyn, and will be lovingly remembered by niece Pat (Lamb) and Andy Buckle of New Jersey and Florida and Charles' children and spouses.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Dorothy Lamb.
David worked in commercial construction on the East coast of the U.S., starting as a sprinkler fitter then becoming licensed as a Fire Protection Designer. It is through that work that he met his second wife, Joan, and a few years later they retired together to the cabin (and woodworking shop) on the lake in New Brunswick.
Per David's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. A monument is in place at the family plot in West Arlington.
