David J. LaPlant Sr.
1943 - 2016 North Bennington, VT David J. LaPlant Sr., "Jack" 73, passed away on Thursday August 18, at his residence in North Bennington, where he resided with his grandson Anthony Ketcham. He was born on January 17, 1943, in Burlington, VT, son of the late Eugene R. Grandchamp and Inez Aiken (LaPlant) but was lovingly raised by Leslie Aiken Sr. and Inez. Jack was a self employed auto mechanic and truck driver, who enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. Whom ever met Jack left a friend for life and loving him. He always had a story and joke to tell and lived his life to it's fullest. Survivors include his children David J. LaPlant Jr. and his wife Amanda of Milton, VT, Gary LaPlant and his wife Lynda, Bruce LaPlant both from North Bennington, Brenda Baker and her husband Tony of Hoosick Falls, NY and Jennifer LaPlant of Bennington, VT. His sisters Darlene Harwood and Kuloa Groover, his brother Leslie Aiken Jr. along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a sister Shirley LaCross and a brother Alvin Aiken. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, September 24 at the Bennington V.F.W. on North Street from 3:00 6:00 pm. Please join us in sharing pictures and memories of our beloved "Fat Jack". Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York.
