Obituary Condolences

AVERILL PARK, N.Y., and BENNINGTON -- David John Smith, 41, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy. Born in Bennington on July, 19, 1964, he was the son of Richard H. Smith, of White Creek and the late Marjorie Bain Smith. David attended school in Greenwich. He had worked at Agri-Mark in Cambridge and Fairdale Farms in Bennington. For several years, he has mainly resided in Averill Park with his significant otherm Brenda McFarland and worked as a self-employed carpenter.

David was a trophy-winning pitcher for Vermont state in the NHPA-National Horseshoe Pitching Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing-especially the Father’s Day Fishing Tournament on Lake Champlain and stock cars. He was a member of Ed’s Garage Bowling League in Wyantskill. The Red Sox were his team.

Along with his father and significant other, Brenda, he is survived by three sons, Frank Jacob and Lucas Smith of Bennington; a stepson, Michael Weaver; two sisters, Kathaleen Baldwin of White Creek and Brenda Edick of Arlington; three brothers, Randy R. Smith of Battenville, N.Y., Bruce A. Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kevin Smith of Hoosick Falls; Brenda’s boys, Timothy, Keith and Kevin McFarland; two uncles, Kenneth Bain of Argyle and Gerald Smith of Lake Lauderdale; his former wife, Becky Sausville Weaver Smith of Bennington; eight nieces and nephews; a great-niece, a great-nephew; and several cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

A funeral service, officiated by Dorothy Sokol of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cambridge, will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetary in Argyle.
