Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON --The funeral of Mr. David L. Mercier was held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Saturday morning where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, c.s.c., pastor, officiating.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray.

Acolytes were Charles Gould, Paul Caron, Leonard Anzivino and Gerald Amadon.

The readings were offered by Leonard Anzivino. A eulogy was offered by a nephew John Hurt.

Bearers were John Hurt, David Marsala, Duncan Turner and Francis LaCroix.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Military Taps were sounded by Susan Green. The flag was folded by Ralph Brown and Joseph Krawczyk and presented to Mr. Mercier’s two sisters, Linda Marie Mercier and Juliette Theresa Mercier Hurt.

A prayer service at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.

During the calling hours Friday evening, the vigil service was offered by the Rev. Vincent J. Coppola, c.s.c, associate pastor of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church.

Conducting services Friday evening at the funeral home were members of the Bennington Lodge of Elks 567 and members of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Mr. David L. Mercier, a resident of Division St., Bennington, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003 at the Albany, N.Y. Veterans Administration Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT.
