David W. Goodell 1939 - 2009 BENNINGTON Mr. David W. Goodell, 70, a resident of Emma Street in Bennington, Vt., died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. He was born in Troy, N.Y., April 29, 1939. He was the son of the late Earl R. and Hazel Schnoop Goodell. David received his education in Williamstown, Mass., and later received his training to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. In earlier years David was employed at Brown's Machine Shop, Catamount Dyers, Warren Wire, Carroll Cable, Stanley Tools and most recently at NSK. David had also worked as a nursing assistant with his daughter Jolene at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of AARP. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading, going to yard sales and visiting with people. He leaves four children, Brian Goodell and Nancy of Ithaca, N.Y., Kevin Goodell and Millie of Trumansburg, N.Y., Carolyn Moon and David of Bennington and Jolene Goodell and Stephan Palmer of Bennington, 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers, Larry Goodell and Shirley of Bennington and Robert Goodell and Mary of Pittsfield, Mass., a sister Jean Floyd of Pittsfield and a sister-in-law Judy Goodell and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Raymond and Thomas Goodell. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin Blue, Pastor of the Missionary Alliance Church officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. If friends desire contributions in memory of David W.Goodell may be made to VNA and Hospice at the Southwestern Vermont Health Care through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
