ROCK CREEK, Wash. -- David W.K. Peacock Jr., 81, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Ingleside at Rock Creek surrounded by his family. He had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for many years. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, David was the son of David W.K. Peacock Sr. and the former Beryl McCaslin. David graduated from Princeton University and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot from 1943 to 1945.

After a career that included both government service and business, he retired to Virginia’s Eastern Shore. There he continued to provide investment advice to private clients.

In 2002, he was named Volunteer of the Year by Kiptopeke Elementary School, part of the Northampton County Public School system, for his work tutoring first graders.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed traditional jazz, sailing and exploring the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware River Valley by canoe and kayak.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Eyre Peacock of Cheriton, Va.; daughter, Sarah Peacock of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and her children, Alex and Catie; son, Bill and his wife, Jo-Anne Peacock, and their children, Sophie and Willie, of Shaftsbury, Vt.; and a brother, John M. Peacock and his wife, Meg, of Round Pond, Maine. He is predeceased by his former wife, Judith Van Orden, the mother of their children.
