BENNINGTON -- Dawn Teresa (Galenus) Cook, 46, a resident of Woodford, died Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2008, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Dawn was born in Norfolk, Va. on Nov. 13, 1961, the daughter of Edward Galenus and Cynthia Stiles-McCabe. She received her education in Florida schools and was a graduate of Jacksonville Community College. Dawn worked in the retail service industry for many years.

She enjoyed reading, loved animals and the outdoors. Dawn was a sun worshipper, loved a good tan and loved to dance. She loved Christmas and all the decorating that came with it. She was such a perfectionist that all her Christmas decorations in the house were measured with a ruler before they were put in place.

Dawn is survived by her father, Edward Galenus, and her mother Cynthia Stiles-McCabe of Bennington; her brother, Christopher Galenus, also of Bennington; her sisters, Lorrie Polly of Pownal and Brenda Galenus of Pittsfield, Mass., and her companion Meredith “Thumper” Surdam of Woodford.

A celebration of Dawn’s life will be held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, Jan. 23, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m.
