Obituary Condolences

SHAFTSBURY -- Debbie L. Briggs, 46, a resident of Shaftsbury, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y., following a brief illness.

She was born in Bennington, on Aug. 2, 1958, the daughter of Joseph Squires and Iva Harrington and attended local schools. Debbie had been employed as a production worker for NSK Steering Systems America, Inc. in Bennington.

Debbie loved to knit and crochet, especially clothing for her grandchildren. She liked motorcycle riding and spending time at Harriman Reservoir in Wilmington fishing with her husband Harry. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Briggs Jr., who she married in North Carolina in 2000; her mother, Iva of North Carolina; two sons, Joseph Bump of Bennington and Ryan Briggs of Shaftsbury; two daughters, Bobbi Miles and her husband Lee of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and Michelle Paul, stationed in Germany serving in the U.S. Army; her brother, Perry Harrington and his wife Melissa of North Carolina; two sisters, Kathy Carrier of Bennington and Mary Cook and her husband Jody of North Carolina; five grandchildren; and several stepbrothers, stepsisters, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father who died in 1996 and her brother, Glen Arthur Squires, who died in 1957.

Graveside funeral services for Debbie will be held Thursday morning, June 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington. The family will receive friends at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington on Wednesday evening, June 29, 2005 from 6 to 8.
