1962 - 2014 BENNINGTON Debra Gayle Richey, 51, a resident of Silk Road died Sunday Sept. 14, at the Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington following a brief illness. She was born in Bennington, Dec. 27, 1962. She was the daughter of the late Carl L. Richey Sr. and Janet (Moore) Richey. Debbie received her education in Bennington and was a 1982 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. Debbie loved to take care of people. She was employed as an LNA at several area nursing homes including Prospect Nursing Home and Washington Elms. She most recently worked at the Dollar Tree in Bennington. Debbie was a member of the American Legion Post 13 for over 20 years. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved being barefoot in her gardens, swimming in her pool and spending time at the family camp at Lake St. Catherine. She also enjoyed mowing the lawn and shoveling snow. Survivors include her partner in life, Gary Oldham of Bennington; a son, Justin Michael Racicot, of Bennington; two daughters, Deseria Hamilton-Richey, and Jenna Marie Oldham-Richey both of Bennington; a granddaughter, Miss Hayleigh Hamilton of Bennington; her three sisters, Freda Waterman (Byron) of Shaftsbury, Carol Wilcox of Bennington, Ann Dailey of Shaftsbury and her brother, Carl L. Richey Jr. of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Debbie is also survived by Janice Oldham, Shelley (Bob) Blakey, Patrick (grandson) and Douglas Oldham, and her best (bestie) friend Pam Barber-Baker who had been at Debby's side throughout her illness. Numerous friends and extended family that she loved so dearly. Debbie was predeceased by her parents, and her youngest brother, David Richey. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Debbie's request the funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A memorial reception will be held at the Willow Road Firehouse on Thursday Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Debbie may be made to the West Mountain Animal Hospital through the office of the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
