Obituary Condolences

WATERVLIET, N.Y. -- Dennis M. Bird, 54, a resident of Watervliet and brother of Greg Bird of North Bennington, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 at St. Peters Hospice Inn in Albany surrounded by his family.

Born in Albany Nov. 9, 1949, he was the son of the late Leonard and Andrea (Palladino) Bird. He received his early education in Albany and later received his bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Rose and his MPA from Russell Sage College.

Dennis was employed at the Testing Division in the New York State Department of Civil Service.

He was a member of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Watervliet where he also served as a eucharistic minister and lector. He was a member of the Cursillo Mens Weekend Group and the R.E.C. Prison Ministry Team.

Dennis is survived by his wife Beth Noonan Bird and his children Katelyn Elizabeth Bird and Jonathan Dennis Bird, all of Watervliet; three sisters, Patricia Allen and her fiancé Charles Smith of Albany, Gloria Heydary and her husband Rassol of Glenmont and Kelly Bird of Albany; his brother Greg Bird and his wife Maggie of North Bennington; 12 nieces and nephews including Sean and Emily Bird of North Bennington; an aunt and uncle and several cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Cummings Funeral Home, 643 3rd Ave., Watervliet on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. and from St. Brigid’s Church at 11 a.m. where the mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.

Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family Friday evening at the Cummings Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m.
