Dennis E. Prevey

1952 - 2010 BENNINGTON, VT Dennis E. Prevey, affectionately known as "Popeye," 57, a resident of Willowbrook Drive, Bennington, died peacefully Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, N.H., surrounded by his family and friends.

Born in North Adams, Mass., Sept. 13, 1952, he was the son of late Carl Prevey. Dennis was a lifelong carpenter. He was very proud of the numerous homes he built around the northeast. He also helped many of his friends with home improvements.

Dennis enjoyed NASCAR, his idol was Matt Kenseth. He also enjoyed watching football, fishing and camping. The love of his life were his children, Cait and Parker. Dennis's final acclaimation was that he would always love his children. In Dennis's name, please help family and friends who are experiencing substance abuse.

He leaves his daughter, Caitlyn Prevey, and his son, Parker Prevey, of Bennington; three sisters, Lucille Gagant, Cheryl Prevey and Lisa Prevey, all of North Adams, Mass.; his stepmother, Elizabeth Prevey, of North Adams; two step-brothers, Wayne Harding of Adams, Mass., and William Harding Jr. of Adams, Mass.; four step-sisters, Robin Sweet of Adams, Mass., Kelly Harding of Connecticut, Pam Harding of North Adams, Mass., and Tammy Schweitzer of Tennessee. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his longtime friends, Cheryl Johnson of Arlington, David Cook of Pownal, Allen Williams of Bennington and Glenn Alibozek of Adams, Mass.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: Per Dennis's request he will be cremated and his cremains will be divided between his children.

A memorial service will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, from 7 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dennis may be made to the Mahar and Son Funeral to help his children with expenses through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
