Obituary Condolences

NORTH BENNINGTON -- Services for Dolores Lowre were held from St. John the Baptist Church Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. James Doherty, pastor, and the Rev. Michael Demasi, retired pastor.

Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral mass were “Be Not Afraid,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Ave Maria.” Following the funeral mass, the song “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling” was sung as a recessional by Louise Gauthier.

The funeral pall was placed on Mrs. Lowre’s casket by her three granddaughters Jenny Chalek, Deborah Reed and Lowre LaCroix. Mrs. Lowre’s daughter, Joan LaVigne, than placed a crucifix and a family rosary on her mother’s casket. The scriptural readings were offered by two grandchildren, Myra LaVigne Chalek and Ian Reed. The offertory gifts were presented by Ethan, Morgan and Luk LaCroix, all grandchildren of Mrs. LaVigne.

Bearers were Sophie Healy, Jeff Gray, Bruce Niles, William Dixon, Frank Johnson and Paul Gauthier. Honorary bearers from the St. Johns Sodality were Sue Harrington, Mae Fox, Jill Levin, Betty Becker, Theresa Demasi, Therese Densmore, Eileen Flynn, Margaret Mailhot, Joyce Scarey, Lorna Cole, Leona Scott and Betty Riley.

Prior to the funeral mass the recitation of the rosary was offered by Father Demasi at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Burial took place in the family lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury, with the Rev. Pierre A. LaValley, pastor of St. Ambrose Church in Bristol officiating.

Mrs. Lowre, widow of John Lowre, a long time resident of Houghton Street, North Bennington, died Oct. 14, 2006, in Bennington. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
