BENNINGTON -- Mr. Donald A. Robinson, 86, a resident of Burgess Road died Friday morning, Sept. 23, 2005, at the Vermont Veterans Home, where he had resided since May of this year. Mr. Robinson was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., on June 10, 1919, he was the only child born to Dorothy (Lang) Robinson. He grew up in Flushing and Huntington, N.Y., for many years he had resided in Manhattan and Montreal, Quebec, Canada before moving to Bennington. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

A writer throughout his life, his career began in the military where he wrote for the Stars and Stripes publication. He also spent time in radio broadcasting as a disc jockey and radio advertising, he had owned many businesses, including restaurants, a book store, espresso bar and jean shop.

He loved reading, music and listening to talk radio programs. He enjoyed studying the Jewish culture and had extensively researched Leonard Cohen.

Mr. Robinson would often reflect upon his working at the New York World’s Fair. He leaves his daughter Christiane Robinson of Cambridge, Mass.

Funeral services will be held at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Sunday afternoon Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Rabbi Howard Cohen of Bennington Congregation Beth El. Burial will follow in the Vermont Veterans War Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.
