Donald Jolivette BENNINGTON Mr. Donald Jolivette, 78, a resident of Bank St. Bennington, VT died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.He was born in Bennington, Vt., May 20, 1931. He was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Marion Towslee Jolivette Sr. He received his education in Bennington and was a 1949 graduate of Bennington High School. Don served in the Army where he was a member of Company C. of the 172nd Infantry. He married the former Thayer Eldred Sept. 26, 1959, at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington. In earlier years Don, Dick and their father operated D&D Jolivette Electric, and later Don owned Jolivette Electric Motors in Bennington. Before retiring he owned a real estate business known as Apple Realty. Don was a well known golf club repairer. He was Past President of the Bennington Lions Club and served as Cabinet Secretary Treasurer of the Vermont State Lions. An active member of Saint Peters Episcopal Church, Don served on the Vestry and also as an usher at the church. An avid golfer Don also enjoyed fishing and playing pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He leaves his wife Thayer Jolivette of Bennington; two daughters, Betsey Walton and her husband Daniel and Sarah Lewis and her husband Gregory; three grandsons Nathan Walton, Elliot Lewis and Isaac Lewis all of Bennington. He also leaves a brother Richard Jolivette and his wife Edie of Mariposa, Calif.; a sister Thelma Coley and her husband Henry of Sunderland, Vt., and a sister-in-law Nancy Coonz of Bennington, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers Kenneth and Eugene Jolivette. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service to celebrate the life of Donald Jolivette will be held from Saint Peter's Episcopal Church on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington at the convenience of the family. If friends desire contributions in memory of Mr. Jolivette may be made to either Saint Peter's Episcopal Church or the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201
