Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- The liturgy of Christian burial for Donald L. Ennis was celebrated from St. Margaret Mary’s Church Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. George Dupuis, pastor, officiating. A prayer service preceded the Mass at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home. Music for the service was provided by organist Louise Gauthier, who offered “What A Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Old Rugged Cross,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.” The pall was placed upon Mr. Ennis’ casket by his grandsons Anthony Ennis Jr., George Ennis, John Ennis, Richard Ennis, Mitchell Burke and Timothy Burke; they also served as bearers. The gifts were presented to the altar by granddaughters Audrey Robinson, Gail Crowley, Pam Sennett and Nancy Labombard. The eulogy was given by a granddaughter, Kathleen Hall. En route to the Ira Allen Cemetery, the funeral cortege paused briefly at Mr. Ennis’ Sunderland Hill home. Father Dupuis offered the committal prayers at the cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshment was held at the church hall following the cemetery services.

On Monday evening, the vigil service was held at The Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel, led by Father Dupuis.

Mr. Ennis, 93, a lifelong resident of Sunderland Hill Road, died Nov. 19, 2004 at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel.
