Donald A. Langlois 1935 - 2011 BENNINGTON, VT Donald Archie "Don" Langlois, 75, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Don was born June 11, 1935, son of Archibald (Archie) and Lydia LeBlanc Langlois. Don received his education in the Bennington Catholic schools. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Air Force and served proudly during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge from active duty he continued to serve his country and his state in the Vermont Air and Army National Guards, retiring from military service in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1332. Don lived and worked in the Bennington community all of his life. In his earlier years as a long haul truck driver, he was fortunate to visit every state in the U.S. He enjoyed meeting and talking with people and recalled many details of his travels fondly. His hobbies included working with his brother and best friend, Steve, to restore old cars, reading western novels, riding his motorcycles, and spending time with his family. On Sept. 18, 1959, he married Nancy Jean Harwood. Nancy predeceased him on Aug. 22, 1983. His parents Archie and Lydia Langlois and two sisters Doris Kalinowski and Jacqueline Lorette also predeceased him. He is survived by their five children, Michelle Kehoe and husband Jim of Yorktown, Va., Erica Becker and husband Shane of Shaftsbury, Cheryl Bodette and husband Davis of Milton, Todd Langlois and wife Kelli of Fairfax and Brian Langlois of Bennington. Don remarried in August of 1986 to Dianne Peters. She and her two children, Stephanie Peters and Stephen Peters, both of Bennington, also survive him. In addition to his wife and children, Don is survived by his grandchildren, Travis Kehoe and wife Jaclyn, Ryan Kehoe, Brandon Becker, Olivia DeCarr, Davis Bodette, Austin Bodette, Casey Langlois, Nate Langlois, Danielle Wilbur, Quinlan Wilbur, Taylor Anderson, Jessie Peters, Jordon Peters, Joshua Peters; great-granddaughter, Alexis Becker; sisters, Jean Hurley and husband Norman, Joyce Davis and husband Floyd; brothers, David Langlois, Stephen Langlois and wife Linda; as well as many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Don's request there will be no calling hours. A committal service is planned for the spring at the family's convenience.
