Obituary Condolences

SUNDERLAND -- Donna M. Capen, 51, of Sunderland Hill Road, died Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born in Miami, Fla., on Nov. 12, 1953, the daughter of Anthony and Phyllis (Adams) Diaz and attended local schools. Donna was so proud of her father who was a chef that she followed his occupational interest and became a cook. She also worked as a housekeeper for many motel companies.

Donna loved to do needlepoint and was an excellent cake decorator, excelling in making wedding cakes. She enjoyed taking rides especially during fall foliage and loved the season of winter. She loved her birds and her pet lizards. She had a big heart, always thinking of everyone before herself and cherished times spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Adelbert “Joe” Capen of Sunderland; two sons, Eli G. Capen and Zeno K. Capen of Sunderland; her daughter, Kaineen “Kandi” Anderson and her fiancé Mike Navarro of West Rutland; four brothers, Robert Diaz of Willacoochee, Ga., David Diaz of Ocala, Fla., and John and Joseph Diaz of the Virginia Naval Yard; two sisters, Wanda Moore of Willacoochee, Ga., and Phyllis Nolan of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Adelbert and Austin Capen, Jeffery Anderson and Justin and Jessie Slade.

Funeral services for Donna will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel. There are no visiting hours.
