1928 - 2015 POWNAL Doris Patenaude Lillie, age 87, a resident of Maple Grove Road died on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Castleton, VT on July 18, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Roy and Julia (Wallace) Patenaude. She received her education in Castleton and graduated from Castleton State Teacher's College. Doris taught for over twenty years. After moving to Pownal, she became involved in the town, as a member of the Board of Civil Authority, and was a Lister. Doris was a member of the Auxiliary of the East Pownal Fire Department. Currently she was a member of the Town Hall Committee. She enjoyed baking, cooking and playing games with the family. Doris is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Jerrod Lilllie and his wife, Renee of Pownal, and Keith Lilllie and his wife, Kasey, of Pownal. She leaves two grandchildren, William and Ariana Lillie also of Pownal, and several grandpets. Doris is also survived by six sisters: Marion Sartwell, Jessie Cook, June Basso, Ruth Corey, Betty Pudelka, and Florence "Honey" Charron, and one brother, Roy Patenaude, as well as many beloved brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a very close cousin, Margaret Lillie. She is predeceased by her husband, Earl in 2002, and her sister, Mary Schmid. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 10a.m. at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington. Interment will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington on Friday evening, January 1, 2016 from 6 to 8p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the or to the support of the family at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
