BENNINGTON -- Dorotha Eva (Baker) Loveland, 85, a lifelong resident of Bennington died on Saturday morning, Nov. 15, 2003 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. She was born in Bennington on Jan. 17, 1918, and was the daughter of Frank W. and Stella (Russell) Baker. She received her education in Bennington schools. Dorotha was the widow of Wesley Charles Loveland who died on June 1, 1955. Mrs. Loveland was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Bennington, and she was a former member of the American Legion Post #69, Auxiliary of Arlington. She had been a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday school teacher in Bennington in earlier years. Dorotha enjoyed doing word searches and puzzles, and taking long car rides with country music playing.

Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Mrs. Loveland is survived by one son, Francis Saunders of Bennington, and four daughters, Kay Watson and Shirley Lincourt, both of Bennington, and Betty White and Gail Bacon, both of Arlington. She has three sisters, Janet Milton of Sterling, Va., Margaret Green of East Swanzey, N.H. and Jean Stone of Raymond, N.H., her sister-in-law, Clare Baker of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She had 18 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Raymond Baker.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m., at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St. in Bennington with the Rev. Michael Twardy, officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 3-7 p.m. Memorials in her honor may be made to the CLR Patient Activities Fund, The Bennington Rescue Squad or the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center, through the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O.
