Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Dorothy Ann Carroll were held from Sacred Heart St.

Francis de Sales Church on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral service were “Ave Maria,” “Here I Am Lord” and “On Eagles Wings.” Charles “Pete” Taylor, a family friend, also sang the song “My Tribute.”

The funeral pall was placed on the casket by Dorothy’s children, Mike, Rick and Angela and a daughter-in-law, Rhoda Carroll. A wooden cross was than placed on the casket by Mike Carroll. The Scriptural readings were offered by Janice LaChance, a niece and Matthew Carroll, a grandson. The offertory gifts were presented by four grandchildren, Noah Carroll, Hannah Griffin, Jordan Griffin and Amelia Cummings. Words of Remembrance were given by Joanne Dunham, a sister of Mrs. Carroll.

Serving as acolytes were Joseph Anton, Leonard Anzivino, Gerald McMurray and John Reed Bearers were a grandson, Matthew Carroll and five nephews, Steve Hoyt, Jeff Pilling, James Pilling, John Dunham and Richard Bogardus.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.

Prior to the prayer a poem was read by Whitney Carroll and Chloe Griffin.

A reception followed the Mass at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Center. Tuesday evening the Wake Service was offered by Rev. James Preskensis, c.s.c., pastor of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.

Attending the calling hours and the funeral Mass were members of the Court of St. Andrew Catholic Daughters, employees and retired employees of TD Banknorth and many relatives and friends of the family.

On Thursday a graveside committal service was held at the Old Bennington Catholic Cemetery with Father Preskensis offering the committal prayers.

Dorothy Ann Carroll a longtime resident of Bennington, Vermont died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at her residence. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
