SHELTON, Conn. -- Dorothy Vincent passed away on Aug. 1, 2003 in Stratford.

Mrs. Vincent, a long-time resident of Petersburgh, N.Y., and subsequently of Bennington, Vt., was 88 years old and was born in Floral Park, N.Y.

She began her career as a teacher and principal in Grafton in 1947 and then in the Berlin Central School. She was the first principal of the Cherry Plain Elementary School (now Berlin Central High) in 1960.

After leaving Petersburgh in 1964, Mrs. Vincent became elementary school principal at the West Point elementary school. She then moved on to various overseas school directorships, in Syria, Moscow, Greece and Holland.

After retiring in 1981, she returned to this area, living in Williamstown, Mass. and then Bennington. She moved to Connecticut in 1999.

She is survived by a son, Timothy Vincent of Shelton; a daughter, Christine Sendak of Huntsville, Ala. and four grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bennington on Aug. 12 at 11 a.m.
