Dorothy C. McGuire 1907 - 2009 NORTH BENNINGTON Dorothy C. McGuire, a longtime resident of Greenwich Street Extension, entered into eternal rest on Feb. 12, 2009. Born on June 5, 1907 she led a long and fulfilling life. Her parents were the late Timothy and Margaret Fitzgerald McGinnis. She attended North Bennington Grammar and High School. On July 4, 1939, she married George F. McGuire at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. Mr. McGuire died Jan. 7, 1974. Mrs. McGuire was a devout communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and an active member of St. Johns Sodality. In earlier years she was involved in numerous community organizations. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends who were her greatest joy in life. She treasured her Irish heritage and enjoyed her travels to County Kerry. Mrs. McGuire leaves two children; Michael J. McGuire and Shirley, of North Bennington, and Margaret Galvin and John, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers: B. Joseph McGinnis and John R. McGinnis. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caring staff at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, and to the Reverend Michael Demasi. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at 10 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. At Mrs. McGuire's request there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Johns Cemetery, North Bennington. Should friends desire contributions in Mrs. Dorothy McGuire's memory may be made to either St. John's Sodality or to St. John the Baptist Church, to be used for the church's food pantry, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
