Dorothy M. Conner

1935-2013 BENNINGTON Dorothy M. Conner, 77, a former resident of Cora B. Whitney Apartments in Bennington and more recently a resident of Homestead Mews in North Bennington died peacefully Wednesday June 26, 2013 at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington. She was a member of the Old First Church of Bennington.

Born in Berkeley County, West Virginia on September 28, 1935, Dorothy was the daughter of the late James Elmer Orr and Dora Belle Edwards. She received her early education in Martinsburg, West Virginia and attended Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia. Dorothy was a long time resident of Winchester. She was employed at Rubbermaid Commercial Products for fifteen years and was also a spent a number of years as volunteer dispatcher and First Aid instructor for the Winchester Rescue Squad. She has been a Red Cross Blood Donor since 1964. Throughout her life, Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting and was a creative cook and baker. Holidays and celebrations always included absolutely wonderful desserts following hearty meals prepared with love.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law Anthony and Jeanne Conner of Bennington; a daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Donald Rudy of Williamsburg, Virginia; three grandchildren, Jacob Rudy and his wife Tiffany of Williamsburg, Daniel Conner of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jillian Conner of Bennington; a sister Mary Jane Hess of Martinsburg, West Virginia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by brothers Howard and Herbert, and a sister Evelyn.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at the First Church of Old Bennington at 10:30am on Saturday, July 20th.
