1915 - 2015 Dorothy Evelyn Cyr Crane was born in Jeffersonville, VT, the only daughter of Matthew and Agnes (Gwinn) Cyr. Following graduation from Enosburg Falls High School, Dorothy received her RN degree from Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. She married Paul M. Crane the day before her birthday in 1942. Paul had recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy as the country entered WW II. Dorothy was employed at the Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington, at Bennington College infirmary and, during the war, at Abbott Laboratories in Chicago. After the war, Dorothy and Paul moved to North Bennington where Paul was employed at the First National Bank of North Bennington. Dorothy and Paul retired in 1978 and enjoyed many years of gardening, cross-country skiing and traveling. They were active members of First United Methodist Church in Bennington and the Federated Church of East Arlington. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, a half-brother, Leander Cyr, a half-sister, Hazel Flood, and brothers, Ralph, Franklin and Lloyd Cyr. She is survived by brothers, Philip and Robert Cyr, a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Eileen Crane, of Buffalo, NY, daughter, Judy Crane, of Northampton, MA, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Please join the family for a service of remembrance at 2p.m. Saturday, December 5th in the Federated Church, Ice Pond Rd., East Arlington.
