Dorothy C. Dickie 1932 - 2011 BENNINGTON, VT Mrs. Dorothy C. Dickie, 79, a resident of Orchard Road in Bennington, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., following a brief illness. She was born in Bennington March 7, 1932, daughter of the late James and Louise Olin Cross. Dorothy received her education in Bennington and was a 1950 graduate of Bennington High School. On Jan. 22, 1951, Dorothy married George A. Dickie. Mr. and Mrs. Dickie recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. For 42 years, Dorothy was employed at the Bijur Lubricating Corporation from which she retired in 1993. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, cooking, baking and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of A.A.R.P. and was a Boston Red Sox fan. Survivors include her husband George A. Dickie of Bennington, two daughters, Norma Therriault and her husband Stephen of Bennington and Patricia Frechette and her husband Thomas of Williston; three sons, George "Gary" Dickie and his wife Patti Jean of Bennington, Scott E. Dickie and his wife Melinda of North Bennington and Jeffrey Dickie and his wife Julie of Grand Isle, Vt.; 10 grandchildren; as well as seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Merton Cross of White Creek, NY, and Leonard and Roger Cross of Bennington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Dickie, and a brother, John Cross. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday March 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. The burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday March 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Dorothy C.
