BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Dorothy E. Durocher, 78, a former resident of Brookside Apartments, died Friday July 18, 2003 at Crescent Manor Care Centers following a long illness.

She was born in Bennington, Aug. 26, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Marion (Greenwood) Armstrong. She received her education in the Bennington Schools and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School.

In earlier years, Mrs. Durocher was employed at several area restaurants including the Paradise, 421 and the Colburn House. While residing in Florida she was employed at Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales.

Dorothy enjoyed handcrafts, especially crocheting.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and John Morizio of Pittstown, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kathy Durocher of Bennington; two grandchildren Kristen Spika of South Windsor, Conn. and Tracey Thomson of Bennington; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Spika of South Windsor, Conn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Durocher was predeceased by a son , Steven C. “Chip” Durocher, who died Sept. 9, 1993 and a sister, Frances Cummings.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Dorothy E. Durocher will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Monday July 21, 2003 at 2 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

The burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery Bennington. Contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to either Bennington Area Hospice or the Vermont Lung Association through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
